According to legend, the highest mountain in Johor is the fabled home of Puteri Gunung Ledang, a mythical princess whose presence is said to still permeate the jungle slopes. Climbing Gunung Ledang (also called Mt Ophir; 1276m) is extremely popular with Malaysian and Singaporean groups but few foreigners visit the area. It's a very demanding C yet rewarding C two-day return trip from the National Park Office to the summit. While you are here, consider taking a side trip to the Puteri Waterfalls, which feature a cool bathing pool at the bottom. |
